Why do we offer an ONLINE consult?
If you’ve been dealing with symptoms for a while, you may have experienced this when seeking care: the first appointment involves coming into the clinic, being examined and getting treatment.
We recognise that in some cases, a different approach can be appropriate. That’s why we offer two ways to get started: one is an online consultation, and the other is an in-person consultation and examination.
So, why choose online?
Because sometimes the best place to start is with a dedicated review of the problem, before deciding what needs to be done about it.
Your Story Matters
When a problem has been around for a while, there can be a lot to understand.
🔹 How did it start?
🔹 What has happened since?
🔹 What have you already tried?
🔹 What makes it better or worse?
🔹 Have you had any scans, tests or other investigations?
These details help us understand your presentation and start developing a working diagnosis.
An online consultation gives us dedicated time to do exactly that — listen, ask questions, review relevant information and start thinking about what might be causing your symptoms.
There’s no treatment during the online consultation. The goal is to understand the problem and work out what needs to happen next. If it appears we can help, the next step is visiting our clinic for a comprehensive examination.
Why not just do everything at once?
You can.
We also offer a limited number of in-person consultation and examination appointments for people who prefer to start in the clinic.
When history, examination and treatment all happen in the same appointment, there can be a lot to cover. Sometimes, separating the initial review from the physical examination allows more time for the thinking process.
That thinking process is the foundation of our approach.
We want to understand what we’re looking for before we start looking for it.
The online consultation allows us to do some of that thinking before you come into the clinic. Then, when you do come in, the physical examination can be guided by what we’ve already learned.
Which option is right for you?
There isn’t one right answer.
Start online if you’d like time to explain what’s been happening, discuss previous investigations and understand what the next step might involve before coming into the clinic.
Start in person if you’d prefer to have your history and physical examination done together, with the option of beginning treatment where appropriate.
Either way, the underlying approach is the same:
Think first. Then do.
For persistent or complicated problems, we believe understanding what we’re dealing with is an important first step.
